Crochet ear warmers, like this Country Ear Warmer crochet pattern, are a great option for when you would like warmth with a little less bulk than a beanie!

I also love that they are so quick and easy to make!

The Country Ear Warmer crochet pattern features a beautiful, textured design. The texture is fairly dense which gives it a little more warmth!

The design features a “twist” at the front (or side, depending on how you prefer to wear it!) that is really quite easy to make – hint: there is really no twisting involved to create the look!

To work the ear warmer, you will need a small amount of your favourite medium/worsted weight yarn. You will work the pattern in rows along the short side. It is easy, that way, to change the circumference by simply working more or less rows!

At the end, you will fold it so that the two short ends meet and then scrunch the short ends so that they create a “W” shape before sewing. Don’t worry, I will demonstrate how it’s done in the video tutorial below!

Ch 72.

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across.  Ch 1, turn.  (71 sts)

Rows 2-13: [Sc, puff] in the 1st st, sk the next st, *[sc, puff] in the next st, sk the next st; Rpt from * across, ending with a sc in the final st.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 14: Sc in the 1st st and in each st across.

Fasten off, weave in your ends.  (Alternatively you may fasten off leaving a long tail that you will use to sew the ends together as per below.)

Join ends together:

To join the ends together, fold your ear warmer over so that the two ends meet and the wrong side is facing out.  Keeping the two short ends held together, fold the end so that it creates a “W” shape.  Using a little bit of yarn and a yarn needle, secure the W shape in place by sewing.

Fasten off, weave in your ends and turn the ear warmer so that the right side is now facing.
