The Braided Cable Ear Warmer is a beautiful ear warmer featuring attractive crochet cables.
You may know that I had been planning on leading a couple of crochet workshops on Prince Edward Island this past weekend. However, due to the arrival of Hurricane Fiona, the event had to be cancelled. I just knew I couldn’t let these designs sit on the shelf! A few days ago I published the Beach Point Beanie Crochet Pattern here on Rich Textures Crochet. Today I bring you the Braided Cable Ear Warmer.

This ear warmer, along with the Beach Point Beanie, is made using one skein of the Selkirk Worsted wool by Fleece and Harmony. The Selkirk Worsted is a wonderfully soft wool that they dye in a variety of gorgeous hues and tones. Along with the yarn you will need a 5 mm crochet hook. In the video tutorial below you will see me working with a Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan Yarns.

Pattern Notes:
- Pattern is written in American English terms.
- Pattern is worked in rows.
- Ch 1 at beginning of row does not count as stitch.

Free Crochet Pattern:
Ch 21.
Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from your hook and in each ch across.Ch 1, turn.(19 sts)
Row 2: Hdc in the 1st st, fpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in the next st, sk the next 4 sts, fpdtr in each of the next 3 sts 2 rows below, skipping the next 3 sts in the previous row, hdc in the next st, working in front of the last 3 FPsts made, Fpdtr in each of the last 3 sk sts 2 rows below, in the previous row sk the next 3 sts and hdc in the next st, Fptr in each of the next 3 sts 2 rows below, in the previous row sk the next 3 hdc, hdc in the next st, fpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in the final st.Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Hdc in the 1st st, bpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in each of the next 13 sts, bpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in the final st.Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Hdc in the 1st st, fpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in the next st, fptr in each of the next 3 sts 2 rows below, in the previous row sk the next 3 hdc and hdc in the next st, sk the next 4 sts, fpdtr in each of the next 3 fpsts 2 rows below, in the previous row sk the next 3 hdc and hdc in the next st, working behind the last 3 fpsts made, fpdtr in each of the 3 sk fpsts 2 rows below, in the previous row sk the next 3 hdc and hdc in the next st, fpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in the final st.Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Hdc in the 1st st, bpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in each of the next 13 sts, bpdc in each of the next 2 sts, hdc in the final st.Ch 1, turn.
REPEAT rows 2-5 until your work from the beginning measures approximately 20 inches or the desired length.
Do not fasten off, but with the right sides together, fold your ear warmer so that the two short ends meet.Ch 1 and working through both thicknesses, sl st in each st across.Fasten off. Weave in your ends.
