This aligned shamrock stitch is fun to work! It has an easy flow to it and works up fairly quickly.

The pattern repeat is over four rows, but it is fairly easy to remember.  The shamrock design is made up of double crochet cluster stitches and double crochet three together stitches.  These shamrocks are worked in-between rows of single crochet stitches.  For this reason, the stitch pattern is fairly sturdy!

Materials:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn. It is a worsted weight yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm Wooden Streamline crochet hook by Furls Crochet. However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

The Aligned Shamrock Stitch:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial.

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of four stitches and then add two for your foundation chain.

Row One:

Single crochet in the second chain from your hook and in each stitch across.  Chain one and turn your work.

Row Two:

Single crochet in each stitch across.  Chain three (which counts as a double crochet stitch) and turn your work.

Row Three:

Double Crochet into the next stitch, *work a double crochet cluster (chain three, [yarn over and insert your hook in the first stitch of the chain three, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on your hook] twice.  Yarn over and draw a loop through all the stitches on your hook.), skip the next stitch, double crochet three together over the next 3 stitches, skip the next stitch.

Repeat from * across to the final three stitches, skip the next stitch and work one double crochet in each of the next two stitches.

Chain three (counts as a double crochet) and turn your work.

Row Four:

Double crochet in the next stitch, *chain one, work three double crochet into the next double crochet three together.

Repeat from * across to the final two stitches, double crochet in each of the final two stitches.  Chain one and turn your work.

Row Five:

Single crochet in each stitch and chain one space all the way across.

And’s that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern, repeat rows two to five.  Fasten off and weave in your ends.
