Blue Belle Shawl Crochet Pattern

The Blue Belle Shawl crochet pattern is a stunning design featuring crochet cluster stitches that resemble flower buds!

The crochet shawl is worked in a fine (#2) weight yarn which creates a delicate lace with beautiful drape. The yarn I have chosen to work my Blue Belle Shawl crochet pattern in is called Sultan Deluxe by Hobbii Yarn. It’s a gorgeous, soft, 100% cotton yarn cake featuring gradual but vibrant colour changes. My shawl is shown in the colour Blue Belle.

Overall, the crochet shawl features a variety of easy crochet stitches. It is worked in rows length wise from top to bottom. The bottom edge of the shawl features a simple and delicate picot edging. Blue Belle Shawl Crochet Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate

Gauge: 28 sts x 9 rows of dc = 4 inches

Finished Size: 21 x 60 inches

Yarn: Sultan Deluxe Cotton Kings by Hobbii ® (100% cotton; 1094 yds/1000 m; 8.8oz/250 g; Fine (2) weight: 1 ball per scarf (including fringe).  Colour: Blue Belle

Hook: Size E/4 (3.5 mm) Hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge

Stitches and Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain
Cl – Cluster Stitch ([yo, insert your hook into the sp indicated, yo and draw up a lp, yo and draw through 2 loops] 3 times, yo and draw through all the lps on your hook.  Cluster stitch made.)
Dc – Double Crochet
Picot – Picot Stitch (Ch 3, sl st into the 3rd ch from your hook.  Picot Stitch made.)
Rpt – Repeat
Sc – Single Crochet
Sk – Skip
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Yo – Yarn Over

Pattern Notes:

• Pattern is written in American English terms.
• Pattern is worked in rows from the top down.
• Ch 1 at beginning of row does not count as stitch.
• Ch 3 at the beginning of row counts as a dc.
• Turn at the end of each row.
• Weave in ends as needed.
• To change the width of your shawl you will need a foundation chain with a multiple of 6 + 1 stitches.

Free Crochet Pattern:

Ch 307

Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from your hook, and in each st across.  Ch 3, turn.  (305 sts)

Row 2: Dc in each of the next 2 sts, *ch 1, sk the next st, dc in the next st; Rpt from * across until 2 sts remain, dc in each of the final 2 sts.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in the 1st st and in each st and ch-1 sp across.  Ch 3, turn.

Row 4: Dc in the next st, [dc, ch 1, dc] in the next st, *ch 2, sk the next 2 sts, sc in the next st, ch 2, sk the next 2 sts **, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the next st; Rpt from * across ending the final repeat at ** until 3 sts remain, [dc, ch 1, dc] in the next st, dc in each of the final 2 sts.  Ch 3, turn.

Row 5: Dc in the next st, [cl, ch 1, cl] in the next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sk the next ch-2, sc, ch-2, [cl, ch 1, cl, ch 1, cl] in the next ch-2 sp; Rpt from * across ending with a [cl, ch 1, cl] in the final ch-1 sp, sk the next dc, dc in each of the final 2 sts.  Ch 3, turn.

Row 6: Dc in the next dc, dc in the top of the next cl, *ch 1, sk the next ch-1 sp, dc in the top of the next cl; Rpt from * across until 3 sts remain, dc in the top of the next cl and in each of the final 2 dc sts.  Ch 3, turn.

Row 7: Dc in the next st, dc in each st and ch-1 sp across.  Ch 3, turn.

Row 8 onward: Repeat rows 2 – 7 until your work from the beginning measures approximately 21 inches (or the desired width) ending on a row 4.  At the end of your final row 4 repeat, ch 1, turn.

Final Row: Sc in the 1st st, picot, sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc in the next ch-1 sp, *sk the next dc, sc in the next ch-2 sp, sk the next sc, sc in the next ch-2 sp, sk the next dc **, [2 sc, picot, sc] in the next ch-2 sp; Rpt from * across ending the final repeat at **, sc in the next ch-1 sp, sc in each of the final 3 dc, picot.

Fasten off, weave in your ends.  Add a fringe to the ends if desired.
