Crochet along with me! Welcome to the first post in the Spring Blossom Throw Crochet Along!

The Spring Blossom Throw is a stitch sampler blanket that celebrates spring and summer blossoms.

The first flower blossoms in the spring are always a welcomed treat after a long, cold winter in my little corner of the world.  From crocuses to tulips, primroses and cherry blossoms they add so much colour and warmth!

The Construction:

For this stitch sampler blanket I have chosen five different stitch designs that are named after flowers.  None of the stitches are heavy in texture and some are more lacy. They will be worked in individual squares (six of each pattern) that will be pieced together at the end.  This means that if you happen to be working on this blanket during a warmer season, you will not have to work under the full weight of it for long!

The complete blanket is made up of 30 different squares, each measuring approximately 10 x 10 inches.  The finished blanket measures approximately 52 x 62 inches.  Each square is worked separately and then crocheted together at the end.  After the squares are crocheted together, a simple border will be added.

For my blanket I have used the Caron Simply Soft Yarn by Yarnspirations.  It is a soft, 100% acrylic yarn.  It is a worsted (#4) weight yarn.  You may substitute this yarn for one of your choice and play with the colours!

If substituting the yarn for another, I do find the Caron simply soft to be on the light side of a worsted weight which may affect the finished size of your squares.  If you need to adjust the size of your squares at the beginning of each post I will include the stitch multiples so you can adjust.

I used six balls of the Grey Heather colour and five balls of the off white.  For my border I used the grey.

For this pattern you will also need a 5mm crochet hook.  I will be using a wooden streamline hook in Ebony by Furls Crochet.  You will also need some scissors and yarn needle for weaving in your ends.

I’m so excited!!

Thank you so much for joining me on this crochet journey! I look forward to seeing all of your progress and finished products.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! Occasionally I may jump on a YouTube live to answer them and check in!
