Hello and welcome to the Wedding CAL (Crochet Along) with Rich Textures Crochet! Over the next five weeks we will crochet this beautiful textured blanket together.

I want to start off by saying that I am so happy that you are here! And I really hope that you decide to join me in this crochet along.

The Story:

A little more than a year ago I was overjoyed to learn that my youngest brother would be marrying his college sweetheart.  An event that will take place this coming summer in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada, where we grew up and his fiancé is also from.

We’ve waited so long for this event and I knew the second I heard the news that I wanted to create something gorgeous for them on their special day.  I wanted it to be something that they would treasure and would last for years to come.

The Wedding Throw:

Blankets are one of my favourite things to make, especially blankets with texture, so I set to work designing this Wedding Throw.

I am hoping that they love it!

And now I look forward to sharing this latest design with you! It features lots of texture and some unique stitch designs.  I have finished it off with a simple edging, however you may choose to modify it, even add your own fringe!

The Crochet Along:

Over the next five weeks, we will crochet this blanket together.  Each week I will publish a portion of the pattern which will include a written pattern and video tutorial.  The written pattern will be found here for free on my blog.  At the end of the crochet along I will release a downloadable PDF document that will include the entire pattern.  The PDF download will cost $2.50 CAD in either my Etsy or Ravelry Shop.  Even after the CAL, the pattern will also remain here on my blog for free!

Schedule:

Wednesday, April 3, 2019: Introduction and Materials

Wednesday, April 10, 2019: Panel #2

Wednesday, April 17, 2019: Panels #1, 3, 5

Wednesday, April 24, 2019: Panel #4 and joining

Wednesday, May 1, 2019: Panel’s #6, 7 and edging

Materials:

The Yarn: Pound of Love by Lion Brand Yarns

After designing the blanket, I reached out to Lion Brand Yarns about the project and they graciously agreed to support it by providing the yarn.  A huge “thank you” to them!

The Pound of Love Yarn which I used for this blanket is soft, durable, wash and dryer safe.  It also comes in extra large balls which means you don’t need as many for the project and there are fewer ends to weave in! (LOL weaving in ends is not a favourite pastime of mine, although well worth the results 🙂 )

You can check out the website for Lion Brand Yarns if You would like to take a look at the selection of colours they have available.  You’ll find them here: Pound of Love by Lion Brand Yarns.

Yarn Details:

For this blanket you will require 4 balls of the Pound of Love Yarn, unless you would like to add an optional fringe to the ends.  If so, you will require a 5th ball:

Yarn Weight: #4 Medium

Length: 1, 020 yds/932 m (You will require a minimum of 4, 080 yards to complete the project)

Weight: 16 oz/454 g

Fibre: 100% Premium Acrylic

Care: Machine Wash, Machine Dry

Crochet Hook:

For this blanket you will need a 6 mm (J/10) crochet hook.  You will also need a yarn needle and, of course scissors for weaving in ends and finishing off.

Blanket Construction:

The blanket is comprised of seven panels featuring two different stitch patterns.  Each panel is worked separately and then crocheted together.  In the crochet along we will work the first five panels and join them together before working the final two and adding them to the ends of the blanket.  The final week of the crochet along will include the final instructions for the edging.

Dimensions of Final Project:

The final project will measure approximately 52 inches x 68 inches.

I just signed up and was interested in the Wedding CAL pattern. How does one get the patterns, and so far all I have heard is music, repeatedly. If I can’t get patterns then you might as well cancel my account.

        OK, I can’t find Week 5. Help?

  5. Is this large enough to use on a queen bed?

    1. RichTexturesCrochet says:

It is more the size of a twin – if you lay it lengthwise over the width of the bed it would slightly drape over the side but only lay 2/3 of the way up toward the head

  6. I can’t find week 5. Oy! Also if I added a third waffle panel and another long v panel how much more tarn do you think I’d need please? Love this look if this Afghan too.
