Here in Ontario we have entered the depths of winter! Right before Christmas we woke up to our first significant snow fall, and then again on Christmas Day, woke up to another 20 cm of snow!

winterblizzard4

The other day while watching the snow fall during the storm I was reminded of this beautiful stitch.  The snow wasn’t falling gently, it wasn’t very serene.  Instead it was blowing on the diagonal, and all I wanted to do was curl up in something luxurious and warm!

This was the beginning of the Winter Blizzard Cowl.  If I found myself caught out in the midst of that snow fall, this was the cowl I would have wanted.  It’s thick in texture, warm and large enough to pull over one’s head to provide extra style, but not to mention warmth from the elements!

Since their release this past year, I have been working a lot with the new Caron Cakes, and more recently the Sprinkle Cakes.  They are a super bulky weight yarn with a wool blend.  I love the look of the tweed and the Vanilla Bean Colour with it subtle grey and cream.

I hope that you’ll quickly fall in love with this mesmerising stitch, the luxuriousness and warmth of this super bulky infinity cowl.

For this project you’ll need a 10 mm hook and four Caron Sprinkle Cakes.  As an alternative yarn you may use any super bulky weight yarn such as Bernat Softee Chunky.  Don’t forget a mug of hot chocolate!
