The Trend Stitch crochet pattern is a beautiful design that is created by working unique cluster stitches.

The fabric that this stitch pattern creates is solid with a beautiful texture on one side. It is quite thick and would be gorgeous in blankets, washcloths and many more projects!

The Materials:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of the Basic Stitch Anti Pilling yarn by Lion Brand in one colour. It is a soft worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm Birchwood Crochet Hook by Rowan Yarn – one of my favourites!  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site and pin this for later! You may wish to start with the Picot Waves Stitch | How to Crochet.

Trend Stitch Crochet Pattern:

Stitches and Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain Stitch
Hdc – Half Double Crochet
Rpt – Repeat
Sc – Single Crochet Stitch
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Yo – Yarn Over

Pattern Notes:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a solid colour.

This pattern is written using American crochet terms.

To begin make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch you will need a multiple of 3 stitches for your foundation chain.

For example, ch 33.

Row One:

Sc in 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Row Two:

CL over the 1st 3 sts (yo, insert hook in same st as last st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on your hook. Yo, sk the next st, insert your hook into the next st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop on your hook. Yo, insert your hook into the same st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop on your hook 2 times in that same st, yo and dar through all the loops on your hook. CL st made), ch 1; Rpt across, dc in the final st, ch 1, turn.

Row Three:

Sc in the 1st st and in each st across, ending with an sc in the top of the turning ch. Ch 3, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows 2 and 3. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
