Materials for this Tutorial:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn in a single colour. It is a worsted weight yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose, even experiment with colour!

The Textured Chevron Crochet Stitch:

Stitches and Abbreviations:

Blo – Back Loop Only

Ch – Chain

Rpt – Repeat

Sc – Single Crochet

Sc2tog – Single Crochet Two Stitches Together

Sk – Skip

Sl St – Slip Stitch

Yo – Yarn Over

Notes:

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial. You may work the stitch in one colour or many.  I will be working the design in a solid colour.

To begin, make a slip knot and then chain your desired number of chains.  For this stitch pattern you will need a multiple of fourteen plus one stitches for your foundation chain (14+1).

For example, ch 29.

Row One:

Sc2tog beginning in the 2nd ch from your hook, sc in each of the next 5 sts, *ch 2, sc in each of the next 6 sts, *sk the next 2 sts, sc in each of the next 6 sts; Rpt from * across to the final 7 sts, ch 2, sc in each of the next 5 sts, sc2tog over the final 2 sts.  Ch 1, turn.

Row Two:

Working in the blo across, sc2tog, sc in each of the next 4 sts, *[sc, ch 2, sc] in the next ch-2 sp, sc in each of the next 5 sts, sk the next 2 sts, sc in each of the next 5 sts; Rpt from * across to the final ch-1 sp, *[sc, ch 2, sc] in the next ch-2 sp, sc in each of the next 4 sts, sc2tog.  Ch 1, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern simply repeat row two.  Fasten off and weave in your ends.
