When I first came across this Ocean Swell crochet stitch pattern it did not have a name.  When I saw it I was instantly reminded of ocean waves!

This stitch pattern is gorgeous! It is fairly straight forward once you get the hang of the repeats, but before that, you will see that part of the uniqueness of this pattern is found in the stitch placement.

In this pattern you will work a modified front post half double crochet stitch and you will also work clusters of double crochet stitches, but in the spaces under and in between stitches.  You will see what I mean in the written instructions and in the video tutorial below.

I love this Ocean Swell stitch for it’s beautiful texture and I am sure you will also!

The Materials:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn in one colour. It is a worsted weight, 100% cotton yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose, even experiment with stripes of colour!

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site, such as the Braided Knit Stitch | How to Crochet and pin this one for later!
