The Braided Knit Stitch pattern is a beautiful crochet stitch that is a modification of the knit or waistcoat stitch.

It is absolutely beautiful and looks like little knit braid that travel up the fabric on the diagonal.  This stitch, like the knit or waistcoat stitch look amazing and is most commonly worked in rounds.

I have also seen this stitch called the Turkish Star stitch!

You may work it as one colour which I have done below, you you may work it in multiple.  It can be worked in a variety of yarn weights and as the design is worked in continuous rounds, you may also wish to have a stitch marker on hand.  When working the Braided knit stitch, I also recommend keeping your tension very loose! This will make it easier to insert your hook through the middle of the single crochet stitch below.  Be sure to check out the free video tutorial below.

The Materials:

For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand Yarn in one colour. It is a worsted weight, 100% cotton yarn. The hook shown in the video below is a 5 mm birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.  However you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose, even experiment with stripes of colour!

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you enjoy the tutorial below, be sure to also check out some of the many other crochet stitch tutorials on my site, such as the Pyramid Lace Stitch | How to Crochet and pin this one for later!
