Welcome to week one, part two of the Wonderful Hats Crochet Along! Today we will be working the Jordan Scarf Crochet Pattern.

As we saw a few days ago, the wavy shell stitch pattern makes a great crochet hat! Well, when worked in rows, it also makes for an amazing scarf (or blanket, as one of you asked recently on my YouTube channel). There are so many options for colour work when it comes to this pattern. In the same way that I worked my hat, I will continue to use two colours.

For the Jordan Scarf Pattern we will be working the wavy shell stitch in rows and we will be working them lengthwise for the scarf. This may sound daunting as it does mean that you will begin with a very long foundation chain, but the results are so worth it!

Not only does it create long lengths of colour changes, but it also means you can work the scarf end to end including the fringe and have to weave in very few ends!

When working this scarf, you will always join the yarn at the start of the row for the colour change. You will leave a little bit of a long tail for the scarf, work the required rows and then fasten off again leaving a longer tail.

Once the scarf is completely worked, you will add in a few more strands of yarn at the end of each row and then tie all the tails to create a knotted fringe. Sound fun? See it in action with the video tutorial below!

If you have not already, don’t forget to check out the matching hat pattern! The Jordan Beanie was the first pattern in this year’s crochet along.

Rows 4-17: Repeat rows 2 and 3 eight more times.

Fasten off (leaving a 6 inch tail).

Fringe:

Cut more lengths of yarn (about 10 -12 inches each) so that you have an extra 3 pieces to add to each tail left on either side.  (More if you wish a thicker fringe)

At the end of each row where a tail has been left, thread two strands of yarn through the end and fold so that the two ends meet.  Gather all the tails and simply tie into a knot.  Repeat all the way across each side.

Trim the fringe tails so that they are even (I left about an inch).
