If you are looking for a crochet stitch with a small, lightweight pattern to it, you will definitely want to try this Blended Mesh Stitch crochet pattern!
Many times, when you see a crochet mesh worked, the stitches are stacked directly on top of one another to create the open design.
In this mesh pattern the stitches are staggered slightly to give it a more interesting and varied look. It almost looks like little cluster stitches! The stitches used in the pattern include single crochet and half double crochet which makes the holes in the fabric smaller and closer together. It has a more dainty look!
I would use this Blended Mesh crochet stitch pattern in any project that you are hoping to keep a lighter weight. Perhaps a summer cardigan or a slouchy market bag!

The Materials:
For this tutorial today I will be using a small amount of Heatherly by KnitPicks and WeCrochet in a single colour. It is a worsted-weight yarn. You could also work this pattern in two or more colours. I will also be working with a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. However, you may use any hook and yarn combination you choose.

Pattern Notes:
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.
This pattern is written in American crochet terms.
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an odd number of chain stitches for your foundation chain.
For example, ch 31.
Row One:
Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row Two:
Hdc in the 1st st, sk the next st, *2 hdc in the next st, sk the next stitch; rpt from * across, hdc in the final st, ch 1, turn.
Row Three:
Sc in the 1st st, sc in the next sp between the 1st 2 sts, *sk the next 2 hdc, 2 sc in the next sp between sts; Rpt from * across, sc in the final sp between the last 2 sts, sc in the top of the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Four:
Hdc in the 1st st, *2 hdc in the next st, sk the next stitch; rpt from * across to the final 2 sts, sk the next st, hdc in the final st, ch 1, turn.
Row Five:
Sc in the 1st st, sc in the next sp between the 1st 2 sts, *sk the next 2 hdc, 2 sc in the next sp between sts; Rpt from * across, sc in the final sp between the last 2 sts, sc in the top of the final st. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
Repeat rows 2-5 for the pattern. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
