The Small Daisy Stitch is such a pretty stitch! And after learning it I couldn’t wait to try it out!
I decided to work up the stitch is a little but practical project, a washcloth. This crochet washcloth is easy to work up once you get the hang of the pattern and it works up quickly. Following the written pattern I will include a video tutorial on how to work the stitch small daisy stitch.
The edging on the crochet washcloth is a simple single round of single crochet stitches, working three stitches in each corner.
The Daisy Stitch Crochet washcloth would make a great crochet item to sell at a craft sale, to add to a gift, or for use in your own kitchen or home spa.

Daisy Stitch Washcloth:
Skill Level: Beginner
Gauge: 9 sts x 11 rows of Daisy Stitch = 4 inches
Finished Size: Approximately 6.5 x 6 inches
Yarn: Approximately 60 yards of your favourite worsted (Medium/#4) crochet cotton. In the photos I’m using a Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (100% Cotton, 1.75 oz/50 g; 80 yds/73 m; #4 medium weight) colours Off White, Warm Brown and Blueberry
Hook: 5 mm (US H/8) Crochet Hook
Notions: Yarn Needle
Stitches and Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
CL – Daisy Cluster – Insert your hook in the chain stitch closing the previous daisy CL, yo and pull through a loop, insert hook in the same stitch as the last spike of the previous daisy CL, yo and pull through a loop, sk 1 ch, insert hook into the next st, yo, pull through a loop, yo and pull through all 4 loops on hook.
Lp – loop
Rpt – Repeat
Sc – Single Crochet
Sk – Skip
Sl st – Slip stitch
Sp – space
Yo – Yarn over
Pattern Notes:
- Pattern is written in American English terms.
- Pattern is worked in rows.
- Ch 1 at beginning of row does not count as a Sc.
- Weave in ends as needed
- To change the size of your washcloth you will need any odd number of stitches.
Free Crochet Pattern:
Ch 31.
Row 1: CL in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th ch from your hook, *ch 1, CL; rpt from * to the end, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Work the first 2 legs of the CL in the 2nd and 3rd ch of ch-3, sk [first CL, ch-1] and work the 3rd leg of CL in the st at the top of the next CL, * Ch 1, CL; rpt from * across, ch 3, turn.
Rows 3-20: Repeat row 2. Do not fasten off.
Edging (Worked in a round):
Rnd 1: Sc in each st across, work 3 rsc in the corner st, evenly work 21 sc along rough edge, work 3 sc in the corner st, sc in each st across, evenly work 21 sc along the rough edge, work 2 sc in the final corner st. Join with a sl st in the first st.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
