I have been loving making shawls at the moment! And when I came across this colour way in the Caron Big Cakes, I couldn’t resist grabbing it for this triangle shawl crochet pattern.

I never thought of myself as a shawl person, but this past winter I loved having one hanging around my reading and crochet chair. It was perfect to grab and toss over my shoulders on a chilly afternoon or evening.

This triangle shawl now has a permanent place on that chair!

Caron Big Cakes by Yarnspirations

I’ve always enjoyed using the Caron Cake line of yarn. Over the last couple of years I’ve worked several pattern using various cakes such as…. But this is my first time using the Big Cakes!

Some of my other Caron Cake Patterns include the Around the Bend Throw – Free Crochet Pattern and the Ripple in Time Throw – A Free Crochet Pattern.

I love how soft they are. They have a great colour selection and, of course, you can’t go wrong with each cake boasting of 603 yards. You will only need two cakes for this triangle shawl crochet pattern. The cakes are 100% acrylic so are machine washable and dry.

You will also need a 6 mm crochet hook.

The Design and Construction:

I have classified the pattern as an intermediate pattern simply because of the variety of stitches.  But don’t let that discourage you if you are new to crochet! The pattern has a lot of repetition, so once you get the hang of the pattern, the triangle shawl will come quite quickly.  Of course, there will be a video tutorial at the end of this post that will also help you on your way.
