Hello everyone and welcome to Rich Textures Crochet! Today I would like to introduce you to a quick and easy crochet cowl pattern!

Not to long ago while wandering the aisles of my local craft store I came across a new-to-me yarn: Boing! by Lion Brand Yarn.

Boing! yarn

Boing! By Lion Brand Yarn:

Instantly I connected to it’s fun texture and variegated colours and several balls fell into my shopping basket.  When I got home I took a look for some patterns made by this yarn and I’m going to confess, I found very few!

Despite not finding many patterns made with this yarn, I knew what I wanted, a new easy and quick to make cowl.  The yarn was perfect for it!

The yarn is an acrylic and polyester blend and one that is super soft.  It is classified as a bulky weight (#5) yarn so it does work up quickly.  If you are substituting this yarn for another I would recommend using a bulky weight yarn that is on the lighter end, although gauge is not extremely important for this project.

It’s Super Stretchy!

The fun thing about this yarn is that it is super stretchy and has almost a spring to it.  I am sure that this is where it gets it’s “Boing” name, because you can stretch it and it bounces right back.  Would you like to see it in action? Check out the video tutorial below and you’ll see just how stretchy it is.

More patterns will be coming!

This is the first pattern that I have worked with this yarn but I do hope to have one more for you in the future.  If you’d like to see some other cowls I have designed, you may wish to start with this Twisted Cowl Crochet Pattern made with Lion Brand Landscapes yarn.  It is another one of my favourites.

The Stitch Work:

The stitch work in this pattern is fairly open as I wanted to capture as much of the spring in the yarn as I could.  The cowl is long enough so that you can wear it double for a warmer garment.

With the yarn I have paired it with a 6.5 mm crochet hook.  The pattern is worked in rounds and you will turn at the end of each round in this pattern.

The pattern is written out in full below followed by the free video tutorial.  If you would like to add this pattern to your library or purchase an ad free PDF you can do so through my Etsy or Ravelry Shop linked below.  Also don’t forget to like, love it and share it!
