Button Up Cowl – Free Crochet Pattern

Welcome to the Button Up Cowl Free Crochet Pattern! This is the second pattern in my winter set using Caron Latte Cakes by Yarnspirations.

If you have only two of the Caron Latte Cakes by Yarnspirations, you will have enough to complete this complete set of winter wear!

Featuring Caron Latte Cakes

When you ask people about the Caron Latte Cakes, usually the first thing they say is that they are so soft! So you can imagine how soft this set is. The yarn IS super soft, but also has great weight and drape because of it’s nylon/acrylic composition.

The result for this cowl is a product that is not bulky and wears nicely under a coat or over a sweater.  The pattern is worked flat in rows and then at the end folded and buttoned along the side.

The free crochet pattern for the slouch hat pictured above is also now available on my blog, including video tutorial.  You will find it here: Puff Stitch Slouch Hat – Free Crochet Pattern

At the end of the written pattern below you will find a free video tutorial, and while you are checking it out, please subscribe to my YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/RichTexturesCrochet/) which I like to update weekly.

To position buttons:

Lay cowl flat, right side facing, with the button holes on the right side. For first button, count up 8 rows of stitches from the bottom and measure 1.25 inches in from the left side. Mark this spot for your first button. Measure 3.5 inches from the first button across (continue to follow in line with the first button along the 8th row of stitches), mark this spot for the second button. For the final button, once again measure 3.5 inches from the second button across (continue to follow in line with the first and second buttons along the 8th row of stitches), mark this spot for the third button. Before attaching the buttons, I double checked the placement by folding the cowl and making sure the marked spots lined up with the button holes. Make any adjustments as necessary. Sew on buttons and weave in your ends.
