The Adelaide Crochet Beanie features rounds of beautiful Suzette Stitch and half double crochet in the third loop.  The texture is wonderful!

Welcome to week two of the wonderful hats crochet along! Last week we learned how to make the Windermere Beanie Crochet Pattern which was also very textured.  The texture in our crochet beanie this week is a little bit more subtle and not as thick.  It is beautiful!

A subtly textured easy crochet beanie

The Construction:

The Adelaide Beanie is worked from the brim up to the top.  Like the first beanie in the crochet along, it features a slip stitch brim that is worked in rows (if you are not a fan of slip stitches, feel free to substitute them for single crochet or half double crochet!).  Once the brim is worked, the ends are slip stitched together before you move on to working to body of the hat.

The body of this hat features the favourite Suzette Stitch.  It is no wonder why this stitch is so popular.  It is easy to work, created with basic stitches, and it looks so pretty! I have attempted to carry the texture of the Suzette Stitch into the top of the beanie also.  This means that a few of the rounds may be a bit more challenging when it comes to the stitch counts and their decreases.  But once you are back into working the half double crochet stitches, they are much more straight forward.  You will see these rounds in the full free video tutorial below!

The Materials:

I have worked the Adelaide Beanie shown in the photos and video tutorial below in the Impeccable Yarn by Loops and Threads.  It is a medium/worsted weight yarn that is 100% acrylic.  You are welcome to substitute it for another yarn of your choice.  Each ball has approximately 285 yards and you will need one ball per beanie.  This should also include enough yarn should you wish to make a pompom!  You will also need a 5 mm crochet hook.  In the video below you will see me using a birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarns.
