Ear warmers are such a great crochet project! They are quick to make and make a great accessory to wear with your own winter gear.  They also make great gifts – and last minute gifts if you’re looking for a quick project.

Fabric Lining:

This ear warmer I have decided to line with an ultra soft 100% polyester sherpa fabric.  I feel like it really takes this simple project and make it look like something you would find in your favourite shop.  The fabric lining also adds extra warmth and coziness.  My fabric I picked up at my local Michael’s store.  You, of course may use a similar fabric or one of your choice.

Sugar Bush Bliss:

The yarn I used is called Bliss by Sugar Bush Yarns.  It is a blended yarn and you will only need one skein! It is a fine weight yarn so you will pair it with a 3.75 mm crochet hook.  Buy it here on Yarnspirations:
Sugar Bush Bliss Yarn, Cardinal

A Simple Construction:

The crochet ear warmer is simple in design.  It is worked in a round using half double crochet stitches that are worked in the third loop.  After it is lined with the fabric, you’ll add your final little detailed wrap.

Free Crochet Pattern:

Rnd 1: Ch 88, join with a sl st to make a ring, ch 1, hdc in each ch all the way around, join with a sl st in the first st.  OR work a round of foundation hdc stitches and join with a sl st in the first st.  (88 hdc)

To learn how to easily line your crochet ear warmer, see the video tutorial below:

At the front of your headband (I worked this centrepiece over the seam to conceal it), gather the two long side together and secure if desired.  Using the left over yarn, around this gathered area, chain 15 and join with a sl st in the first chain.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, hdc in each st all the way around, join with a sl st in the first st.  (15 hdc)

Rnds 2-8: Ch 1, working the 3rd loop, hdc in each st all the way around; join with a sl st in the first st.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
